Our names are Wendy and Mark Turner and we are married, to each other of course. Neither one of us had ever thought about cake or cake decorating prior to 2006. Wendy's job at the time had recently relocated us to the Texarkana, Tx area. Her allergies were such that we couldn't pass our spare time on our motorcycles so we saw a sign for "free" cake decorating classes at local hobby shop. We decided it would be fun to try! Mark says that was the most expensive "free" cake decorating class he'd ever heard of. So after 4 courses (each course consists of 4 classes), lots of Wilton basics (tips, NASTY Wilton fondant, and our now huge aluminum pan collection) we started having people asking us to do cakes for them.

We thought it couldn't be that bad. Wendy is an engineer by day and Mark is an electrician and AutoCAD Designer, but at night we turned into these pushing the envelope cake decorators. Texarkana didn't have much of a demand for fondant until we came along. Everyone thought it tasted like paste, but we showed our customers it could be very tasty. In October 2008 Mark and Wendy were doing enough business out of our home kitchen we couldn't keep up, so we opened a shop.

We asked a third partner to join us to open an actual bakery, Edible Elegance, LLC in Wake Village, TX. All three owners worked full time jobs and we only opened the shop at night between the hours of 5pm-7pm M-F. We were a hit right away with the 3D carved cakes and tasty fondant offerings. We were putting in almost 80 hours a week each some weeks to keep up with our day jobs and the bakery. Wendy received a job offer for a position in SE Texas so again the Turners moved.

Over the years Mark and Wendy have taken classes by many of the big names in cake including: Bronwen Weber, James Rosselle, Marina Sousa, Roland and Marsha Winbeckler, Joshua John Russell, Jason Ellis, Kathy Scott, Nicholas Lodge, Michelle Bommartio, and have had several occasions to go to the International Sugar Show hosted by Kerry Vincent in Tulsa, Ok.

We've looked around for a place to set up a bakery here in Lumberton, Tx, but no buildings were move-in ready for a bakery, they all needed significant renovations. In September 2011 Texas passed the cottage law so we are now legally able to sell baked goods out of our house. We always look for new challenges in our work, just take a look. We promise we will make it big celebration!

Thanks for looking and we hope to work with you in the future!
